Risk management is full of ideas that have become standard practice. They appear in meetings, reports and operating models every day. They shape decisions and determine where accountability sits. Too often they go unchallenged simply because they have become familiar. But familiar does not always mean right.
In this live, courtroom-style webinar we put five long-held risk management beliefs in the dock. Our Jury of experienced practitioners debated them openly, brought real-world perspectives to the table, and decided whether each still stands up to scrutiny.

The discussions were sharp, practical and occasionally uncomfortable in the best possible way. The panel examined what still works, what no longer serves us, and what leaders could do differently in their own organisations. Verdicts of “Guilty” or “Not Guilty” were delivered after genuine debate rather than polished consensus.
Sessions like this matter because they create space to question the tools, frameworks and assumptions we often treat as settled. Whether the topic was heat maps, risk ownership, the limits of quantification, or the gap between process and actual decision-making, the conversation kept returning to the same core question: are we managing risk in a way that genuinely helps the organisation navigate uncertainty, or are we simply performing risk management?
