How to Truly Future Proof the Risk and Audit Profession?
By taking action. As Lao Zi says “A Journey of a Thousand Mile begins with a Single Step”. One of key reasons why CRO Chief Risk Officer, Andrew Chan FCA (also IIA HK Governor) took up the challenge last year to establish and Chair the IIA Hong Kong Young Professionals Committee, with one purpose in mind - to future proof the risk and audit profession by advocating and championing for value added risk based internal auditing and risk based decision making.
“Amongst the Young Professionals in Hong Kong, there is a real concern and anxiety of AI taking over their current and future roles and this will directly impact on the next generation of leaders and C-Suite positions.” - Andrew Chan FCA
The committee successfully hosted several sold out in-person seminars on these timely topics in Q2 2026 - “AI in Risk Management” with Finex Club & Baker Tilly and “AI in Internal Audit” with Protiviti (total combined attendance of over 150 members and industry professionals). Next up, we will be launching the inaugural IIA HK mentorship program in September. As embark on the journey to turn risks into opportunities.
Thank you to all Young Professionals Committee members for your valuable contributions to future proof our profession - Alan Chan, Jonathan Wan, Lawrence Chang, Derek Wong, Victoria Tsang, Vivien Kwan & Natasha Aurelia (Student Sub-Committee).
